Catching Up with Rome

The moment I’m about to close this blog has come but I decided to come back instead. Considering the huge memories I wrote on this cyberspace, I have to believe that someone is reading this blog and patiently waiting for my return, lol!

So, what’s up with me after almost a year of hiatus?

I been busy tossing my life between cooking, travelling and half of it was spent in the corporate world. My corporate world was kinda boring so I’ll skip that part.

Food and Cooking

Most of my time was spent in the kitchen. You see, on my food blog, my skills in the kitchen had leveled-up, I’m proud and claiming it as my biggest achievement for the past year. Preparing up food is really never boring. I had fun styling, designing and taking pictures of different food I made in my kitchen but hate preparing it. Please visit my website and discover the food I’ve concocted and innovated.

I may have neglected to update my travel website regularly but there are some interesting stories to read on. And I promised to accelerate my posting this year. To tell you honestly, I have 2 years of travel backlogs that I need to post and only if I could buy time literally, I would.
I have been travelling locally, most of it in my home province Palawan. I met a lot of incredible people from different places, and learned from them. I love every conversation and exchange of ideas from foreigners. Foreign language could be a barrier but there are translation agencies available.

Movies, TV series, music, books and current events – these are the fillings of the gaps between work, travelling, and food discoveries. At this moment, I am keeping myself up streaming Arrow, American Horror Stories, Scandal series, Revenge, Suits, Hannibal, and Vikings.

I hope I could update this small space in the cyber world more often. Please…. let me know where I can buy time!

Halloween Themes | Plants Versus Zombies, Witch, and Zombie Apocalypse

If there's an award for Best in Halloween ideas and theme, my cousin, Anney of Blog ni Ako should get it!

The party planner and stylist at heart Anney, take every Halloween seriously. It is one of the most important festivities in our family. From last year's Witch Themed Halloween Party, we dolled up as "pretty scary" witches alongside with our nieces.

Everyone wore black and a witch hat. The kids were styled by Anney with cute little witch Halloween costumes. No messy make up needed, just a mole on your face or perhaps a witch nose, this kind of Halloween costume for the family or for a team is very easy. Unbelievable as it may seem, our Halloween party food were all witch themed too. Click here to check her glam photos.

For this year's theme, we chose Zombie Apocalypse. Removing the Halloween glamour was not a good idea for Gabby, my youngest niece. She refused to had her face made-up even after Anney promised all things in heaven and earth, LOL. Feeling scared, Gabby started crying when Anney began to fix her zombie make up. We told her that Anney's removing it already where in fact, she's actually putting black eye shadow  under Gabby's eyes. Deceived, Gabby had no idea during the entire party that she looked like us, zombies! (insert zombie sound here).

We just used water-based glue, tissue paper, pressed powder and fake blood for our DIY, bloody-faced zombie make-up. Of course, the Halloween food should complement with our theme.

Last night at the world-class, undisclose office I work in, we celebrated Halloween 2013 wearing Plants versus Zombies inspired costumes. All girls and girls at heart were plants while guys played zombies. Made your own costume - the materials we used are available at the convenience of the nearest National Book Store and stuff from home. We had fun dancing as zombies to the sound of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and bagged the best Halloween theme.

Happy Halloween!  Boooo!!!!!!

International Release: FILA for Fitness

Color: Grey 1416
Size: USA 8
Price: Php 4248 1500

Believe it or not, I thought about physical fitness too everytime I eat a 300-calorie-count-nutella-inspired food. Seriously though, now that I've gained weight more than what my age should have, the guilt I felt after I munch a slab of grilled meat is really driving me crazy.

So, I vowed to fitness and health more seriously. First, I have to purchase a pair of training or running shoes because the last one pair of Merrell shoes I have was already donated to charity last year. It was rarely used anyway. Second, I have to fix my daily schedule and make sure I have time for at least 30 minutes of running everyday. Third, I have to decide what type of  training exercise I would follow that could, possibly,  flatten my belly and firm my body fat. I'm interested to try hiphop dance, jazz, or aerobics, it sounds so much fun! Lastly, I have to reduce my sugar and carbo intake which I think, very inhuman, LOL!

On my checklist, let's rub-out running shoes. I've chose to buy Fila shoes for a bargain price of Php 1500 from Php 4248 last green light sale in Trinoma. As of writing this post, I never had a chance to use it yet. So, stay tuned for my review. Lets see if this pair of shoe will deliver  protection, comfort and enhance my performance.

International Release: Button-Up Shirt L.O.G.G. by H&M

H & M Hennes & Mauritz, for me, is a label of graded goods. Looking at their Singapore website, I can say that the Swedish multinational retail-clothing company offers fashion and quality at the best price. So, when exactlly will H&M open a store in the Philippines?

I've been hearing a lot of buzz about the opening of its Flagship Store in the Philippines. Some say it would be brought by Rustan's to the brand-conscious Filipino consumers. The latest rumor from Yahoo however, is that, the popular clothing brand, H & M, has partnered with for local retailing with SM. But until now, it hasn't materialized.

While waiting, I make shopping H&M at the convenience of my favorite relief goods store, lol! Here's my latest find; Button-Up Shirt L.O.G.G. by H&M. It was big on me when I found it so I had it altered.

International Release: V-Neck T-Shirt from H & M

Hey hey hey, its Saturday! What've you got?

This deep V thing for men from H&M is what I've got but at least two years past its sell-by date. It was a "pasalubong" (homecoming gift) from my cousin in law, Alvin, who arrived from Dubai couple of years ago. It was a growing trend back in that time but I guess not for the self-conscious person like me. The shirt looked low-cut top on me instead of normal v-neck t-shirt because it's a little bit large. I saw male stars and celebrities seem to be wearing that look so convincingly sexy....ughhh but definitely not on me.

A low neckline on a woman is attention grabbing and it’s just the same for men. A slim, toned body is a must and, according to boy bands, a tan and a chest wax to match. Oh well, I had no choice but to wear it because our very coordinated tour planner, Anney, required us to wear something blue. The H & M tshirt is actually comfy and flowy.

International Release: Blue Suede Shoes from Mundo

Alert the media!!! I'm back to blogging, lol!

Yep, here I am again after a long and busy blog holiday. I had a lifestyle overhaul - I've been busy with office work and other things that I've took for granted when I was busy writing, eating, cooking and traveling. Beyond that, I felt the need to quit "seeking attention" for a while because some of my stories and experiences were misinterpreted and caused a bit of trouble.

Now, let’s talk more about me, me, and me.

That's what this blog site is all about to begin with. You may become tired of me and the things that I do but I'll write whenever I can until my breath fades away, LOL!

Let's start my return with a random post about my fashion statement last summer. You see, I got a pair of blue suede shoes from Mundo! At Php 2, 990.00 it's expensive for a-little-above-minimum wage earner like me. But I have an addiction to suede shoes these days and I was looking for a particular color of blue. An impressive pair of blue suede shoes indeed.

I found the electric blue suede loafers in The Ramp Crossings one pay day. I bought it immediately without thinking twice. I've been using it all throughout the summer; walking on the beach, biking, strolling in the mall, and in the office too. I wore it with, denim, white and/or orange shorts topped with white, blue and violet shirts and sandos.

The shoes are very durable and comfortable. I'm using it most of the time, the colors fades after some time but the inner and outer soles are still good. It was such a great purchase, I had no regrets.
Right now, its my favorite pair of shoes. So please...don't you step on my blue suede shoes! Well...
You can burn my house,
Steal my car,
Drink my liquor
From an old fruit jar.

Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh,
Honey, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes.
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

Halston 1-12, Tommy Hilfiger, and Chocolates

This is a thank you post to my cousin, Ate Elena, for the chocolates, cologne and wallet she brought from the US last holiday season especially for me.       How did she know that my sexy Carolina Herrera 212 for men was empty? I was planning to buy a new one before the holidays but I completely forgot. Thank you Ate Elena for a very scented gift.  Halston 1-12 Natural Spray Cologne is what I'm wearing today. It has a subtle smell and I really liked it!

The package handed to me by her sister, Ate Juliet, includes a branded and a genuine leather folder by Tommy Hilfiger. The premium smell of authentic leather when I opened the box was hmmmm, happiness! Now that I have a very handsome wallet, I thought, its an omen to save some more and I will.

To you Ate who I misses so dearly, although we never seen each other last December, I am very grateful for these gifts and I hope I could give you something in return someday. May God bless you and your wonderful family. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and sweetness! xoxo

Memories of Batis Aramin

Rolling hills, green meadows, and country roads… these, with chilly air breeze and good times, are, the stunning Batis Aramin Resort & Hotel, a beautiful northern destination brought to my memory. I wrote three blog posts about the whole experience of our three days and two nights’ holiday getaway in Batis Aramin and was posted on my travel blog, Gest to Utopia.  Our happy moments were captured in stills in such a charming provincial setting. I hope I was able to capture our happy moments in video but I don’t have experience in video editing like Cyberlink video editing suite software yet. Maybe on my future travels, I would be able to share high definition and quality videos. Well then, I should be able to acquire my first video camera first.

Located in lush forest at the foot of Mount Banahaw, tucked down a quiet private road five minutes away from the center of the second class municipality of Lucban is Batis Aramin Resort and Hotel. Its numerous pools and adventure camp offer not just a relaxing vacation but also of an action packed getaway. My cousins and I tried rappelling, zip line riding, and wall climbing. Defying gravity was indeed, a whole new experience that I won’t be able to do every time. I regret that I didn’t capture our experiences in video. So I made a promise to myself to seriously learn about cyberlink to capture each happy moments in motion.
